- A Case of You- Joni Mitchell
From independent female artists all over the world and Nick Cave, the tracks I recommend this week all have a common theme of strong lyrical prose.
The songs “Into my Arms” and “A Case of You” are both strong piano ballads that reflect a minimalistic style, where the artists use their lyrics as a paintbrush, stroking the melody over the piano accompaniment.
“Yumewomiyou” is in Japanese but the percussive vocal delivery SLAPS pushing the track along at a racing pace, which I felt contrasted very well to “Movies” and “Alewife”. Baroque pop and Lo-fi pop tracks respectively, these artists use their voices in a much more subdued manner that I really liked, playing a smaller role in the composite of the tracks.“Bite the Hand” and “Space Cowboy” do everything everyone else does and just so perfectly too.
I hope you enjoy the tracks as much as I do and the albums these songs come from are also very much worth your time.
